A weather balloon

Incident report of a balloon sighting

December 16th, 2017

A warm spring afternoon and a mostly clear sky wouldn’t seem much of a sighting time, at least for small bright elusive UFOs but, as a storm was unfolding in the distance and the sun became less annoying, an oportunity for an eye relaxing nap takes place after lunch.

Grabbed my favorite chair and picked a good spot in the backyard close to family members for small talk and as soon as I set my back on the chair I was able to notice a faint dark spot hovering in the sky. Of course I screamed UFO at everyone and run to get my gear (Nikon D90 with a 300mm lens).

Upon first inspection I realize this is something I have never seen (in fact still haven’t seen anything like it), the balloon shape popped up and immediately thought “this is a weather balloon”.

Even if it’s clearly a type of balloon I’ve decided to post it anyway because most of the time we’re caught with our pants down (ie. without photo gear or binoculars) and adrenaline does the magic. Maybe if we knew more about the common things that fly over our heads we would filter those better. As for me, I’ll continue to search and survey for anything.
